Have we made any ground on Winston vs. Mariota?
Or do we just not care anymore?

It didn’t seem like too long ago that the raging discussion in the sports world was revolved around who was better between Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. Winston was the trouble-making superstar that just won a National Championship. Mariota might not have been comfortable leaving the West Coast, but he was a damn good runner.
They went no. 1 and 2, respectively, in the 2015 NFL draft. Winston first, Mariota second. Four seasons into their career, it doesn’t seem like we have made any ground on determining who is actually the better quarterback.
Here are the numbers:
Winston —
13,577 passing yards, 81 touchdowns, 55 interceptions; 710 rushing yards, nine touchdowns, three lost fumbles, 21 wins, 87.7 passer rating
Mariota —
11, 644 passing yards, 69 touchdowns, 41 interceptions; 1,239 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns, five lost fumbles, 25 wins, one playoff win, 89.7 passer rating
There isn’t a ton of separation. Mariota has had injury issues, but he’s still played one more game than Winston. He has the better team around him, sure. But Mariota just seems to make fewer mistakes and it has translated to wins — even one in the playoffs.
Right now, Mariota probably has the edge. By this time next year, though, it wouldn’t be shocking to see it swing back in Winston’s favor.
